Acupuncture

A system of integrative medicine that involves the skin or tissues with fine needles, used to alleviate pain and treat various physical, mental, and emotional conditions. Originating in ancient China, acupuncture is now widely practiced around the world. An integrated approach to oriental medicine seeks to understand and treat the underlying condition of the body, with a goal of transforming the patient to a higher level of long-term health, stability, and wellness — treating the whole person by finding the root cause of a condition in a gentle and compassionate way, instead of relying on pharmaceuticals for temporary relief.

02Traditional remedies, modern care

Herbs, Supplements & Nutrition

Chinese herbs and herbal formulas help effectively treat a patient's health care goals. Each formula is comprised of herbs that work with your body to naturally alleviate pain and overcome the effects of stress and digestive issues — even cold and flu symptoms — just as acupuncture works to balance the body's energy, or Qi. Herbs are used alongside other supplements and dietary advice to promote a healthier lifestyle, combining traditional remedies with recent clinical advances in plant-based medicine to craft a plan customized to you.

03Release tension, restore Qi

Cupping Therapy & Gua Sha

In Chinese medicine, Qi is the body's innate energy that moves in a particular direction. Cupping is a technique where glass cups are strategically placed on the body to move Qi and blood circulation, releasing tense muscles and bringing the body into greater balance — with sensations and effects similar to a deep tissue massage. Gua sha, or "scraping," is a complementary method that relieves pain by increasing microcirculation in soft tissue: quick strokes with a smooth tool warm the area, relax the muscles, and encourage healthy blood flow.

04Plant medicine for body & mind

Essential Oils

This form of plant medicine can assist in easing patients into the world of acupuncture. Essential oils are used through topical application for bodywork and aromatherapy benefits, as well as application on acupuncture points for point stimulation. Most of the essential oils used in clinic come from Essential Three, here in Southern Oregon.
